Paving Complete

On Thursday, July 28, 2022, SW 42nd Street was officially reopened as a newly paved road.

The approximately one-mile section of county road sits between West Hallam Road to the south and W Pella Road to the north. The joint public-private project began on June 13 and took 30 working days to complete.

In a news release, Lancaster County Engineer Pam Dingman said of the $1.3 million paving project, “The paving of this road is very important to the Village of Hallam and Monolith. Lancaster County would not have been able to pave this road without the financial support from the Nebraska Department of Transportation and Monolith.”

Paving SW 42nd Street will make for safer travel for the area residents and Monolith employees, and it’s also a vital part of the preparation for the Olive Creek expansion. Paving this section of SW 42nd Street completes Phase 1 of the two-phase paving project. Phase 2, which includes paving to the west on W Pella Road from SW 42nd Street to the entrance of NPPD’s Sheldon Station, is planned for the future with an exact date to be determined.
